In My Mailbox #51

For my information on In My Mailbox, check out Kristi's blog The Story Siren.

This Week I Received:
I couldn't resist buying a copy of Hilary Duff's novel when I saw it at Target earlier today even though she probably had major assitance writing it, I still have hope that it'll be awesome and my order of BALLADS came in this week from the library, surprisingly it doesn't live in their YA section but general adult.
Out for Blood, #3 | Revolution
This completes my Drake Chronicles series for now but I hear there will be another book coming out the middle of next year. I already have a copy of REV but with a totally different cover, I can't decide which I like best.
I Love You Zelda Bloo | Heartbreak River | Notes from the Underwire
Gretel Killeen wrote ZELDA BLOO but also happens to be the long-time host of Australia's Big Brother, I'm not sure whether that is a plus or minus against her name but I'm pretty sure this novel wouldn't have made it into my hands otherwise. Ever since reading FORGET YOU, I've been drawn to so many more YA Romance novels and NOTES FROM THE looks like a really fun, girly read :)
Girl, Aloud | Malcolm & Juliet
I'm never one to pass up the opportunity to listen to music but when music is melded into a story it doesn't always turn out fabulous, well in my experience NICK + NORAH has been the only achievement in this field so I'm hoping GIRL adds to this list. MALCOLM actually seems to be a little different to what I originally thought it'd be but I'm hoping the adventures of teenage romance take up more of the story than anything else mentioned on the back cover.
Sugar Sugar | Blue Plate Special
These two and a couple others I received this week were traded with the author of Girl Saves Boy, Steph Bowe who blogs over at Hey! Teenager of the Year. SUGAR has a pretty cover and I'm intrigued how BLUE PLATE will meld stories of a few different characters separated by many years.
Q: I've been listening to Taylor Swift all of this week, what's your opinion of her?

Awesome books this week!

I'm a huge fan of Taylor. My friends and I made posters and t-shirts last time we went to her concert and we're planning to go to at least 3 concerts on her next tour. Yeah, we're kind of obsessed lol. What's your favorite song on her new album?

Nice book haul! Blue Plate Special sounds interesting. I love books that are told from several different characters point of view.

Taylor Swift? I like some of her music I guess. I'm just not a fan of country in general. I think that her voice is overrated (very average if you ask me) but that she is a brilliant songwriter. Unfortunately her songwriting talent is somewhat eclipsed by the fact that she is so popular. It almost feels as if she is so mainstream that her lyrics can't really be that great or poignant. At least thats how I feel.

Awesome books :)
I have Revolution too, I haven't started it yet, but I'm excited to :D

I love Taylor Swift! I listen to her wherever, whenever, and with whoever! Her music cheers me up if I'm having a rough day, it helps me rock out if I don't feel like doing any work, and she always...always makes me want to sing along. I don't have her new album yet because I added it to my Christmas list, but the songs I've heard so far I absolutely love, which I'm not surprised. Most of her songs have 5 stars on my itunes ;P lol

Revolutions looks really good but this is the first I have heard of it. Thanks for the heads up.
I really liked Elixir, it was different not spectacular, but good. I love Taylor Swift, sometimes she can be long winded, but her songs are really catchy. Good haul :)

TSwift is the BEST!!!!!!! I've always liked her music, but a couple of years ago I watched a special about her on the nightly news and was absolutely fascinated by how much control she has over every single element of her albums, tours, and shows. This girl is freaking talented!!!!!

Great haul this week! Ballads of Suburbia is on my to-read list, and *I think* I remember reading and enjoying Blue Plate Special, but it was a while ago. Can't bring myself to read Elixer, though; will wait for your review!

Here's my IMM, if you're interested: http://christitheteenlibrarian.blogspot.com/2010/...

Great books this week Holly! I received my copy of Out for Blood last week, I am loving the series so I can't wait to get into it. Revolution and Ballads of Suburbia sound really good, they are both on my TBR pile. Not sure about Elixir though so I'll wait until your review, I've seen the book trailer which kind of made me crack up laughing.

I love Taylor Swift, I've been listening to her new album (and Lissie's album Catching a Tiger - When I'm Alone is my new favourite song) this week, and I really like it.

Loved Revolution, I really love both covers, but I like the key cover just alittle better! I can't wait to hear how you like Elixir---I've been tempted to pick it up myself!

I do like Taylor Swift---its cheer-up music! Just fun to listen to. :D

And my thoughts of Taylor Swift. She is okay definitely has talent but not my type of music.
