Weekend Question #1

Weekend Question is hosted by Liz of Cleverly Inked. Every weekend, a bookish question will be asked. I decided to come up with my own question for my first week attempt at this meme but I'm sure next time around I'll be participating properly.

Weekend Question:
How do you resist the temptations of a pre-order?
I've only just got into the art of pre-orders so when I saw What Happen With Goodbye by Sarah Dessen listed on The Book Depository for an extremely cheap price, I was very tempted but with over 200 days until it's release, is it really a smart buy... Who knows what I'll be doing in May of 2011 and whether I'll have received the book by then so my question to you is how long do you wait before ordering books you know you'll love?
Head over to Cleverly Inked to hop onboard this weekly meme.

I've got 2 pre-orders in the cooker right now! (How to Say Goodbye in Robot PB - December, Rival HB - February) I was a bit hesitant about pre-orders until a month or so ago, because I read that when you pre-order, sometimes they'll cancel it and then jack-up the price...but a lot of people here in the blogosphere have worked with TBD pre-orders just fine, so I'm taking a chance. Plus, who can argue with the cheapo prices, eh?

I look at how much money I have right now, which scares me OUT of buying too many books. If I could, I'd have 10+ 2011 books on pre-order by now. :P If I know the book isn't going to be publishing in Australia anytime soon, I'll definitely consider pre-ordering.
I agree with Cass. I only pre-order from TBD it the book isn't going to be published in Australia until a later day. I like to get my books from my local family owned bookstore but sometimes the prices are just to good to refuse at TBD. When I do pre-order it is about 2 months before.

I don't really shop anywhere else for books other than TBD because the prices time and again are so much cheaper!
I generally pre-order a lot. Particularly books that I know I will buy no matter what. Amazon gives you the lowest price they offer til the point of release, so it is smart, and probably if I dont buy them at the moment then I'll be broke when they're released lol. Right now I've pre-ordered Matched, Anna & the French Kiss and What Happened to Goodbye. and I'm going to pre-order WIther too. I normally dont pre-order book that I "think" I'll like, only the ones I'm SURE I will. :)
