How Aussie Are You?

The following meme was found while browsing Reading Upside Down which I was directed to by the Australian Book Blogging Directory, a new initiative connecting Aussie bloggers. Go and Link your Aussie blog now :)

So here goes, I’ve highlighted all the one’s I’ve completed and added some extra comments in brackets here and there (you might want to remove these if you copy & paste the list for your blog). Can you beat my tiny score of 31/102, I'm pretty sure non-Australians could, give it a go UK, US or anybody else :)

  • Heard a kookaburra in person. 
  • Slept under the stars.
  • Seen a koala.
  • Visited Melbourne. (I've more than visited it, I live there)
  • Watched a summer thunderstorm.
  • Worn a pair of thongs
  • Been to Uluru (Ayer’s Rock)
  • Visited Cape York.
  • Held a snake
  • Sang along with Khe San. 
  • Drank VB.
  • Visited Sydney.
  • Have seen a shark.
  • Have used Aussie (and NZ) slang naturally in a conversation.
  • Had an actual conversation with an indigenous Australian (Aboriginal).
  • Eaten hot chips from the bag at the beach.
  • Walked/climbed over the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
  • Used an outside dunny, and checked under the seat before sitting down.
  • Seen Chloe in Young & Jackson’s.
  • Slept on an overnight train or bus.
  • Been to Sydney’s Mardi Gras
  • Have gone bush-bashing.
  • Taken a sickie.
  • Been to see a game of Aussie Rules football.
  • Have seen wild camels. (There weren't so much "wild" as they were "annoyed" at all the people gawking at them.)
  • Gone skinny dipping.
  • Done a Tim Tam Slam. (If this is what I think it is, then YUM!)
  • Ridden in a tram in Melbourne. (Frequently)
  • Been at an ANZAC day Dawn Service. 
  • Watched a sunrise or sunset. 
  • Held a wombat.
  • Been on a roadtrip of 800km or more. (I'm guessing Melbourne to Mildura fits the requirements)
  • Seen the Great Australian Bight in person.
  • Had a really bad sunburn. (Oh yes, many times.)
  • Visited an Aboriginal community.
  • Seen a redback spider. 
  • Have watched Paul Hogan. (I saw the sequel to Crocodile Dundee unwillingly on a school trip.)
  • Seen Blue Poles in person. 
  • Eaten Vegemite. (Yup, but shock-horrow, I don't like it.)
  • Thrown a boomerang. (I threw mine inside a building at the Royal Melb Show)
  • Seen the Kimberleys.
  • Given a hitch-hiker a lift.
  • Been to Perth.
  • Have tried Lemon, Lime and Bitters.
  • Tried playing a didgeridoo.
  • Seen dinosaur footprints.
  • Eaten Tim Tams. (They do live up to the hype)
  • Been to Darwin.
  • Touched a kangaroo. (I have a photo of myself patting a kangaroo with a sign right behind me saying "Don't Touch The Kangaroo's", I swear I didn't see the sign until later.)
  • Visted the Great Barrier Reef.
  • Listened to Kevin Bloody Wilson. 
  • Killed a Cane Toad.
  • Gone to a drive-in theatre. (Yup, they are awesomesauce, should go more often.)
  • Have read and own books by Australian authors. (Yup, Jaclyn Moriarty and Melina Marchetta come to mind.)
  • Visited Adelaide.
  • Know the story behind “Eternity”.
  • Been camping. 
  • Visited Brisbane.
  • Been in an outback pub. 
  • Know what the term “Waltzing Matilda” actually means.
  • Gone whale watching.
  • Listened to Slim Dusty.
  • Own five or more Australian movies or TV series. 
  • Sang along to Down Under. 
  • Have stopped specifically to look at an historic marker by the side of the road. 
  • Eaten a Four N Twenty pie. (Yup, many times.)
  • Surfed at Bondi. 
  • Watched the cricket on Boxing Day. 
  • Visited Hobart.
  • Eaten kangaroo. 
  • Seen a quokka.
  • Visited Canberra.
  • Visited rainforests. (I have a memory of visiting a rainforest in primary school, but I have no idea which one it is.)
  • Used a Victa lawnmower.
  • Travelled on a tram in Adelaide.
  • Used a Hills hoist.
  • Visited Kata Tjuta
  • Used native Australian plants in cooking.
  • Visited the snow. (I didn't particularly love skiing.)
  • Chosen a side in Holden VS Ford.
  • Visited the desert.
  • Been water skiing
  • Read The Phantom.
  • Visited Parliament House. 
  • Gone spotlighting or pig-shooting. 
  • Crossed the Nullarbor. 
  • Avoided swimming in areas because of crocodiles. (I avoided swimming because I thought their might be crocodiles but didn't turn out to be any.)
  • Listened to AC/DC. (Not by choice)
  • Called someone a dag. (My favourite insult.)
  • Voted in a Federal Election.
  • Have been swimming and stayed between the flags. (Do I get more points for swimming outside the flags?)
  • Had a possum in your roof. (Every year.)
  • Visited the outback.
  • Travelled over corrugated roads.
  • Hit a kangaroo while driving.
  • Been well outside any mobile phone coverage.
  • Seen an emu. (This question should be changed to "been attacked or abused by an emu".)
  • Have woken to the smell of bushfires.
  • Subscribed to RRR.
  • Patted a pure-bred dingo.
  • Seen the Oils live.
