I cannot believe just how many books I have managed to collect in just under a month, I have to give a great big shout out to the lovely members of the Aussie Swap for sending out most of these wonderful books to me while also managing to clear my older shelves out just a tad.

In other groundbreaking news, I actually entered a "bricks and mortar" bookstore this week and purchased a physical book which is a huge rarity for me due to my huge love of The Book Depository. The title that won me over was the Beautiful Creatures which I have been curiously keeping an eye on since it started making waves in the blogosphere, luckily the 75% discount had me rushing out of the store with one of the best covers of the year!

  1. A Small Free Kiss in the Dark by Glenda Millard
  2. And Then Things Fall Apart by Arlaina Tibensky (Pretty sure I'll be adding a typewriter to my wishlist after reading this one.)
  3. Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl
  4. Boys, Girls and Other Hazardous Materials by Rosalind Wiseman
  5. Dangerous to Know by Katy Moran
  6. Drummer Girl by Karen Bass
  7. Fireworks: Four Summer Stores (I have finally given in to those indulgent short story books filled with extremely popular authors...)
  8. How Now Brown Frau by Merridy Eastman
  9. Imaginary Girls by Nova Ren Suma
  10. Jumping Off Swings by Jo Knowles (This one has been on my wishlist forever, great to finally own it!)
  11. Kiss Me Deadly: 13 Tales of Paranormal Love
  12. Love is the Higher Law by David Levithan (I wasn't expecting this one to be such a tiny, tiny book and I think I actually ordered it on or around the 9th of September, creepy!)
  13. Prom Nights From Hell by Meg Cabot, Lauren Myracle, etc
  14. Reamde by Neal Stephenson
  15. The Book of Tomorrow by Cecelia Ahern (Yay! Thanks to The Story Siren for introducing me to this awesome chick-lit)
  16. The Espressologist by Kristina Springer
  17. The Goddess Test #1 by Aimee Carter
  18. The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith (I may have an incredibly lame version of the cover, but I am still extremely keen to read this one asap.)
  19. The Sweet Life by Rebecca Lim
  20. Tantalize #1 by Cynthia Leitich Smith
  21. The Amazing Life of Cats by Candida Baker (Forgive me for bad taste, I'm a recently new cat owner.)
  22. Thirsty by M.T. Anderson
  23. Ultraviolet by R.J. Anderson
  24. Withering Tights by Louise Rennison (Super keen to finally read something from this supposedly hilarious author.)
oh, and here are some cookies for you...

Q: Do you prefer buying books online or at actual bookshops?

I love going in to a store and actually pulling the books off the shelves. I love looking through all the titles and covers. That's my number one choice. If they don't have a book I like, or I want to pre-order, I will do it online. But I'd go to a bookstore before anything else.

I hardly seem to find any awesome ya titles at local bookstores, i guess thats why i resort to online stores and the prices also help.
Wow lots of books and I like the new layout but it seems like it's all pushed to far to the right and everything is like super big other then that I like it and beautiful creatures is amazing I loved it

Any chance of a screenshot? It looks totally different from my end although I am trying to reduce the size of the header atm.
The Book of Tomorrow is amazing! I hope that you enjoy your new books.

Great Books. I've read a few of these: Beautiful Creatures and Ultraviolet. Hope you enjoy reading these.

As for your question. Nothing beats walking into an actual bookstore and looking around. It's scary to think that bookstores may cease to exist in the future .. what with all these e-books and what not. But if I was looking for something specific that I don't mind waiting the delivery time for I'll order online.

i think we're a very long way off from having zero bookstores, we just seem to be biting back at the overpriced stores for now.
Woah, go Holly! What a grand stack of books you have collected in under a month!
Hope you enjoy the books :) . And yes, I've heard a typewriter is hard to use, but I still want one!!
Thanks for the cookies, they look delish. Mmm

Happy Reading.
:D
Awesome awesome stuff! I hope you enjoy Beautiful Creatures, I was so so about that one. And I'm so torn on buying books. I think I just like buying books in general. I like buying them in store if I'm going to a Used Book Store, but online if I'm getting them new. :)
I was surprised on how small Love Is The Higher Law was as well. I wasn't expecting it to be so short, but then again a lot of David Levithan's books are short. Happy reading!
Great book haul!

I normally enjoy buying online just because its cheaper. I'm a starving student who can't afford full priced books. :P I do buy from used book stores occasionally and I've just started frequenting an independent bookstore that does signings so I buy from them every so often. :)
I would like to go into a bookshop and buy books but they are much more expensive in shops than online! Plus I love getting them through my postbox and the excitement! =)
Great books, enjoyt them all.
(as a bookseller, kids and YA specialist) i am defo an advocate for real bookshops. the books are "more expensive" than online because that's the recommended retail price, to ensure that author, publisher and bookseller get paid for the work that goes into the book. and why does the bookseller need a cut, i hear you ask? because we work damn hard to make sure we know what is going on in the book world, read extensively and objectively so we can help kids, YAs and parents buy the right books. and it's so nice to talk to customers about what they've been reading, what they liked, what they hated. i just don't find the same discussions online.

i loved 'love is the higher law' and 'a small free kiss in the dark'...sigh, so wonderful.

i like the new layout, but it is really big, i feel the need to zoom out.
i love roaming around book shops, but don't often buy from them O.o I write down stuff that looks good and check them out from my lib. i use the book depository from preorders. so cheap and lots of stuff you can't get over here anyways :)
