Music Monday #4 - Soundwave

Today, I'm taking a break from my regular bookie posts to celebrate Soundwave! A festival I've been attending since it's culmination, the line-up may resemble Warped Tour and that's completely fine with me as they never fail to bring out at least a few of my favourite bands. It's a sad fact that I don't exactly attend as many shows as I'd like to anymore so in place, I've promised myself to attend this festival every year as long as they keep bringing out the goods!

this year I'm hoping to see:
The Gaslight Anthem
The Rocket Summer
Mayday Parade
We The Kings
The Maine
Bayside
+ a whole lot more.

Some of my favourites over the years have been Motion City Soundtrack, The Matches, My American Heart, Say Anything, Paramore, Jimmy Eat World and All Time Low but I still regret ever making the decision to see the fun-times that is Forever the Sickest Kids over City and Colour's amazingness now that I'm that a major fan of Dallas' tunes.

I always promise to write up a lengthy review of the SW DAY but never end up getting it done so this year I must promise myself to complete it and if you don't see something posted in the next couple of days, you have my permission to bug me :)

haha, naw. were you hanging at the metal stage? btw i'd love to see a review, i'll do one if you do.
I have to ask, how much does SW usually cost? I remember in late Feb I saw a SW van and I got so psyched over it. I got to go to a We the Kings concert (with The Maine and Never Shout Never) a few days ago and it was AWESOME! Can't wait to read your review of it. :DD And also I think I've got a lot more music to listen to now. The line-up sounds really good, but I still haven't heard of a good handful of them.

It's awesome that you got tix to a sidewave, I haven't been to many of those over the years but the few I have been to are always awesome. I ended up seeing The Maine on the Soundwave day and they were pretty good despite the singer losing his voice from drinking too much.

Soundwave usually costs around $130 but if you're interested in going nxt year, I'd kept an eye on their website around November or even earlier as they usually announce the line-up pretty early on.

I'm really psyched to write my Soundwave review but it doesn't look like I'll have any time as the next week is pretty packed in but I'll mentally prepare it anyhow :)
Well the tickets were only $50, all ages. It was a separate concert event for the three bands.

For Never Shout Never, Chris was smoking in between songs and I was like O_O for half of the time. Haha. I don't love his newer music, but it was still cool to see all of them play, within 50 m of me. Hopefully next year the lineup is also good, and I have enough money for tix.
It seems like every year SW is slowly lessening the amount of poppy bands they bring out and focus more on the metal but I too hope that they have enough bands for me next year. I'm thinking there won't be, judging on this years crowd.

The sidewaves are a really great idea but once you go to the festival day there isn't really much point unless you have clashes for ur fave bands. I have a couple NSN songs on my ipod from way back in my myspace days when he was playing under Christopher Drew but the smoking onstage just turned me off so I left and checked out some of the bands instead.

When I was watching The Rocket Summer, I found myself tuning out because TBH he wasn't that great but instead thinking how amazing it is that these random bands I found on the internet are now standing right in-front of me playing all my fave songs. I just couldn't believe it.
