Thanks to this challenge, I seem to be crossing many more movies off my wishlist this year and it's all due to the Anime Girls Bookshelf. |
This Month In Movies:
One Day on Sept 5th
Starring: Anne Hathaway, Jim Sturgess
Plot: After spending the night together on the night of their college graduation Dexter and Em are shown each year on the same date to see where they are in their lives. They are sometimes together, sometimes not, on that day.
Released: 19 August 2011
Source: Cinema
3 Out Of 5 Stars... I guess I was expecting something close to the wow factor of The Notebook unfortunately this one just managed to hit average.
The Change-Up on Sept 10th
Starring: Jason Bateman, Ryan Reynolds
Plot: A comedy in which a married father accidentally switches bodies with his best friend, leading to a series of wildly complex difficulties.
Released: 5 August 2011
Source: DVD
2 Out Of 5 Stars... Not as hilarious as I hoped, I guess I got this one confused with Jason Bateman's other 2011 comedy The Switch.
Monte Carlo on Sept 11th
Starring: Selena Gomez, Leighton Meester
Plot: Three young women vacationing in Paris find themselves whisked away to Monte Carlo after one of the girls is mistaken for a British heiress.
Released: 1 July 2011
Source: DVD
3 Out Of 5 Stars... A really cute teen comedy, let's hope Selena Gomez focuses on movies more than music over the next couple years.
Easy A on Sept 16th
Starring: Emma Stone, Amanda Bynes
Plot: A clean-cut high school student relies on the school's rumor mill to advance her social and financial standing.
Released: 16 September 2010
Source: DVD
4 Out Of 5 Stars... I'm really surprised at how much I enjoyed this movie, it's gotta be the smartest comedy I've seen in a long while and Emma Stone is probably my new favourite actor now!
Justice for Natalee Holloway on Sept 17th
Plot: A movie about the Alabama teenager's mysterious disappearance in Aruba.
Released: 2011
Source: TV
3 Out Of 5 Stars... I got sucked into this real-life mystery very early on but was hugely disappointed with the unexplained ending!
Queen Sized on Sept 18th
Starring: Nikki Blonsky
Plot: An overweight girl, Maggie Baker, is elected Homecoming queen by the mean girls in the high school.
Released: 2008
Source: TV
2 Out Of 5 Stars... I've never really understood why made for tv movies even exist, they're always pretty awful and this movie is just the same!
Footloose on Sept 18th
Starring: Kenny Wormald, Dennis Quaid
Plot: City kid Ren McCormack moves to a small town where rock 'n' roll and dancing have been banned, and his rebellious spirit shakes up the populace.
Released: 14 October 2011
Source: Preview Screening
4 Out Of 5 Stars... I haven't actually seen the original Footloose but this one proved to be more than just a dance flick!
Something Borrowed on Sept 19th
Starring: Ginnifer Goodwin, Kate Hudson
Plot: Friendships are tested and secrets come to the surface when terminally single Rachel falls for Dex, her best friend Darcy's fiancé.
Released: 5 May 2011
Source: DVD
3 Out Of 5 Stars... Another one of those best friend boyfriend stealing story-lines without the backdrop of comedy. Ultimately pretty lame :S
Source Code on Sept 23rd
Starring: Jake Gyllenhaal
Plot: An action thriller centered on a soldier who wakes up in the body of an unknown man and discovers he's part of a mission to find the bomber of a Chicago commuter train.
Released: 5 May 2011
Source: DVD
4.5 Out Of 5 Stars... I never really get into sci-fi flicks but I thought I'd give this one a go because of Jake Gyllenhaal... the imdb ratings never lie, this one is pretty great!
Fright Night on Sept 26th
Starring: Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell
Plot: A teenager suspects that his new neighbor is a vampire.
Released: 18 August 2011
Source: Cinema
3 Out Of 5 Stars... A bit of a quirky horror-comedy, I'm glad I passed by my doubts of this film as it turned out to be pretty entertaining.
